Attraverso parole

I fatti parlano da soli? Non necessariamente. Quando si tratta di fatti storici, poi, grande rilevanza assume l’interpretazione dell’accaduto da parte dei contemporanei, e degli studiosi a seguire. Esattamente 800 anni fa, accadde un fatto, in una città sul delta del Nilo chiamata Damietta. Francesco da Assisi, che dieci anni prima aveva istituito una forma di vita religiosa basata sulla povertà, carità e fraternità, si recò dal sultano al-Malik al-Kamil, nell’ambito della quinta crociata. Nell’immediato, il fatto non suscitò grande interesse, anzi: Francesco non convertì il sultano e nemmeno ne uscì martire; solo in seguito se ne apprezzò lo straordinario significato profetico.

Domenica 29 settembre ci sarà la giornata del Vicariato a Polonezköy per la Festa del Corpo e Sangue di Cristo.
Partenza: ore 9.00 col pullman davanti alla Cattedrale St. Esprit.
Prenotazione: per prenotare un biglietto (25 TL) rivolgersi ai padri.
Domenica 29.09. non saranno celebrate le messe delle 9.00 e delle 11.15, ma solo quella delle 18.30.


On Sunday 29 September there will be Meeting of the Vicariate at Polonezköy to celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.
Departure: 9.00 am by bus in front of the St. Esprit Cathedral.
Booking: to book a ticket (25 TL) please contact the fathers.
Sunday 29.09. 9.00 and 11.15 masses will not be celebrated, but only the 6.30 pm mass.

Center for Arab and Islamic studies

In recognition of the importance of the Arab and Islamic worlds, both historical and contemporary, St. Bonaventure University established the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies (CAIS) in 2015.

In view of the Franciscan Order’s enduring engagement with the Arab and Islamic world from 1219 until the current day, its contribution to the study of Christian-Muslim relations, and its promotion of Christian-Muslim dialogue, CAIS was established under the aegis of the Franciscan Institute at St. Bonaventure University.
